Burnham crash victim named as Keelan McCann as Givealittle tops $27k

A man who died after a two-vehicle crash south of Christchurch last week has been remembered as a devoted husband, father and great friend. Emergency services were called to the crash on State Highway 1 near Burnham shortly before 7.30am on Tuesday, April 14. Keelan Breeze McCann, 30, died at the scene, while another person was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they remain in a now stable condition. A Givealittle page set up to support the family of McCann described him as a great friend, son, devoted husband and a loving father to his young daughters. “He was someone who worked hard, looked after his family, and always had time for the people around him,” the page read. The page, set up by a long-time friend, read that McCann’s young family was “now facing life without their husband and dad far too soon”. “This is an unimaginable loss, and no family should have to carry the added burden of financial stress during a time like this.” Keelan Breeze McCann died after a crash on State Highway 1 near Burnham on April 14. Money raised from the page would go towards supporting McCann’s children with school and daycare expenses, day-to-day living, funeral costs and time away from work for his wife as the family grieved. The page had raised over $27,000 by Monday morning. “Police would like to thank the members of the public who stopped and rendered assistance to those involved in the crash,” police said. “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time.
