Marcos up in trust, performance ratings as Duterte's approval declines in Q1 2026 — Octa

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. regained ground in both trust and performance ratings in the first quarter of 2026, while Vice President Sara Duterte saw her performance score decline significantly, according to the latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey conducted by independent pollster Octa Research. The non-commissioned nationwide survey, fielded from March 19 to 25, 2026, showed Marcos' trust rating climbing to 54 percent — a 6-percentage-point increase from the 48 percent recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025. The improvement exceeded the survey's ±3 percent margin of error. The President also posted a 55 percent performance rating in the first quarter, up 4 percentage points from 51 percent in the previous quarter. That increase likewise surpassed the margin of error. Duterte, meanwhile, maintained a majority trust rating of 55 percent, slightly higher than the 53 percent she received in Q4 2025. However, her performance rating declined by 4 percentage points — from 54 percent to 50 percent — a drop that also exceeded the survey's margin of error. The survey covered 1,200 adult Filipinos aged 18 and above, selected through probability sampling, using face-to-face interviews. The national margin of error is ±3 percent at a 95 percent confidence level. Subnational estimates for the National Capital Region, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao each had a margin of error of ±6 percent. OCTA Research emphasized that the TNM survey is independent, nonpartisan, and released as a public service. Fieldwork was conducted from March 19 to 25, 2026.
