Shakira fever - Fans join mass dance class ahead of pop star's free concert in Rio de Janeiro

"Dozens of people attended an open dance class on Sunday to move along to iconic songs by Colombian singer Shakira as the city geared up for her free concert on May 2 at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. In the footage, participants are seen dancing, some wearing belly dance belts, to the song 'Waka Waka'. "This class was a Shakira special that everyone in Rio organised so we could feel up close what the energy of the show will be like," said Aline, dance instructor, enthusiastically. The initiative has been organised in preparation for the 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour' in Brazil. "There is a lot of expectation, right? A lot of excitement. We are ready to welcome fans from all over the world with open arms. And they can come here! The stage is already getting ready," said Josepher, a Shakira fan. Finally, the artist’s followers highlighted Shakira’s role in the spread of Latin music in Brazil, a market largely dominated by Portuguese. "Shakira broke musical barriers here in Brazil, right? Which is a market very focused on Portuguese-language music, but with Spanish, she broke through because she has that Latin essence. She is a very warm person, which is something that is very much part of Brazilian culture, and she is very charismatic," commented Ingrid, another Shakira fan. Shakira’s free concert is one of the most anticipated events of her Latin American tour, and it is expected to bring together thousands of people on one of the most iconic beaches in the world."
