CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The province’s inflation rate climbed to 4.6 percent in March, up from 2.7 percent in February, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said in its monthly report. Dr. Charlyn Romero-Cantos, chief statistical specialist of the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Statistical Office, said the increase was mainly driven by the faster annual rise in the heavily weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages category. “In addition, faster annual increases were observed in alcoholic beverages and tobacco, recreation, sports and culture, and personal care and miscellaneous goods and services,” Cantos said in a presentation shared with the Inquirer.
