"Thousands gathered in Rabat on Sunday to show solidarity with Palestinians, protest against Israel, and condemn the conflict involving Iran and Lebanon. Footage shows crowds marching with Palestinian and Moroccan flags, chanting slogans including "Palestine is bereaved, Gaza is being killed by starvation," and “a Moroccan salute to proud Palestine”. Protesters also held signs reading “Execution of Palestinian prisoners is a war crime.” Among those attending was Mohammed Nabil Benabdallah, Secretary-General of the Progress and Socialism Party, who said Moroccans reject 'policies of killing and starvation' against Palestinians. "We also denounce what is currently perpetrated against the people of southern Lebanon, and what happens in Iran," he added. Protesters also highlighted the humanitarian situation in Gaza and condemned the Knesset for approving new legislation allowing the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners in certain cases involving attacks against Israelis. "The prisoners are suffering, so are Gaza and its children, youth and the elderly people. Honestly, our silence is a disgrace," said demonstrator Zainab Al Housseini. The measure has drawn criticism from several Arab countries, as well as the United Nations, the European Union and human rights groups. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended the law as necessary to strengthen deterrence, while the United States said it respects Israel’s right to legislate. The protest also took place amid wider regional tensions, including a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran, and a separate 10-day truce between Israel and Lebanon that came into effect on Friday."
