"A major fire broke out on Monday at the refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Pachpadra, just a day before it was due to be inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Footage shows a thick column of black smoke towering over the facility. Firefighting operations were launched, with authorities later confirming the blaze had been brought under control. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said no casualties were reported and that an investigation is underway to determine the cause. The refinery is India’s first greenfield integrated facility of its kind, developed as a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Rajasthan state government. The ministry said the planned inauguration on April 21 has been postponed, with a new date to be announced."
