PAL pilots summoned over midflight incident

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has summoned the pilots of a Philippine Airlines (PAL) plane to an investigation regarding cabin depressurization during midflight last Sunday. PAL Express flight 2P2544 was traveling from Dumaguete City to Manila when the plane encountered depressurization while cruising at 32,000 feet. The flight, carrying 175 passengers, including three infants, was diverted to the Iloilo International Airport and landed safely at 4:27 p.m. Some passengers required medical attention, and CAAP confirmed they were promptly treated by airport staff and no major injuries were reported. The plane, an Airbus A320-214 (registry RP-C8619), was grounded for a technical inspection to determine if the failure resulted from component malfunction. “We recognize this was a difficult experience for those onboard, and we are assisting our passengers and crew,” PAL said in a statement on Sunday night.
