PNP orders probe into cold kidnap-for-ransom cases

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered the agency to investigate cold kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) cases after the rescue of a 78-year-old kidnapping victim in Parañaque City. “While the Parañaque operation is considered closed, the involvement of rogue ex-personnel necessitates a deeper probe into potential syndicates,” Nartatez said in a statement on Tuesday. “We are looking at the bigger picture.
