MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) ordered a sweeping audit of all regional police training units nationwide following allegations that trainees were forced to cover part of their superiors’ housing expenses through an alleged rental kickback scheme. “I have ordered a mandatory audit of all lease agreements involving trainees,” said the PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. in a statement on Wednesday. “Every cent must be transparent and documented.
