"Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Iran’s ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam in Islamabad on Wednesday, as Pakistan continues its efforts to keep fragile ceasefire talks between the United States and Iran on track. Footage shows the two sides meeting alongside senior Pakistani officials, with discussions focused on the regional situation and ongoing diplomatic efforts. Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry urged both Washington and Tehran to extend the ceasefire. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar raised the issue during talks with the US embassy’s charge d’affaires, stressing the need for continued dialogue. US President Donald Trump later said the ceasefire would be extended, while confirming that the naval blockade on Iranian ports would remain in place “until Iranian leaders present a unified proposal in the talks.” A second round of negotiations had been expected in Islamabad, but uncertainty remains over Iran’s participation. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said 'no final decision' had been made, citing “contradictory messages and conflicting behaviour from the Americans.” The first round of talks, held on April 11, ended without agreement. The diplomatic push follows a conditional two-week ceasefire reached on April 8, after weeks of escalation triggered by the joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran on February 28. Tehran later confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the initial strikes, with his son Mojtaba Khamenei named as successor. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli and US positions across the region, with reports of explosions in several Gulf states."
