New EU travel rules have significantly changed how British-based pet owners travel with animals such as dogs, cats, and ferrets. EU pet passports are no longer valid for most travellers from Great Britain, even if previously issued, and have been replaced by Animal Health Certificates (AHCs). These certificates must be obtained from a vet within ten days of travel and are required for every trip. The changes aim to standardise entry rules and improve travel control across EU borders.
