Eight people were killed and 171 others injured in 145 road accidents in Finland in March this year, according to Statistics Finland. The number of fatalities was three lower and the number of persons injured 21 lower than in March 2025. Meanwhile, a total of 30 persons were killed and 564 others injured in 435 road traffic accidents in the January to March period of 2026. The number of deaths was one lower and the number of persons injured 53 higher than in the corresponding period of 2025. Of the persons who were killed, 21 travelled by passenger car, two by van and one by motorcycle. Five pedestrian was killed. In addition, one other road user was killed.
