"US President Donald Trump recited and Old Testament passage from the Oval Office in Washington DC on Tuesday as part of a bible-reading marathon event. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land," Trump said as he read out 2 Chronicles 7:11-22. It comes as part of a Bible-reading marathon dubbed 'America Reads the Bible' in which hundreds read out bible verses throughout the week. Most recitals are set to be held at the Museum of the Bible whereas Trump took his turn from the Oval Office via video message. The famous passage, in particular 2 Chronicles 7:14, frequently sparks political and religious debate as some argue that it is read out to imply that the US is meant to be a country rooted in the Christian faith, which is disputed. It comes a week after Trump posted an AI image on social media that appeared to depict him as Jesus Christ, which he deleted soon afterwards. The president said that he thought it would show him as a 'doctor' healing people rather than Jesus Christ. "
