The Ministry of Science and ICT convened industry leaders and foreign diplomats at Coex in southern Seoul, Wednesday, using the World IT Show 2026 as a platform to promote its ambitions in artificial intelligence (AI). At a morning roundtable, the ministry gathered executives and researchers to discuss so-called “physical AI” — systems that integrate AI with machines and real-world environments. The session, led by Second Vice Minister Ryu Je-myung, focused on how Korea could strengthen its position despite competition from global technology giants. Participants from companies including Maum AI, Movensys, MakinaRocks and Pebblous, alongside academic experts, pointed to gaps in technology, data and industrial deployment, while outlining paths forward.
