MANILA, Philippines – The International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP) denounced the military operations carried out by the Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental, on April 19, which led to the alleged killing of a journalist and student leader. The Philippine Army earlier reported that 19 individuals it identified as members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in multiple clashes with troops from the 79th Infantry Battalion.
