(UPDATE) A FOREIGNER was arrested for theft and physical assault at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, airport security said Wednesday. Initial reports showed that Lockheed Security Agency personnel, in coordination with terminal food outlet staff, reported the suspect to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) for allegedly refusing to pay his bill. It noted that the store's staff and manager confronted the suspect, who refused to cooperate. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly turned violent and repeatedly struck a responding security officer, causing injuries. He was later subdued by other responding airport security and immediately brought to NAIA Police Station 3 for investigation, documentation and proper disposition. In another incident, a 27-year-old American was detained by police at NAIA Terminal 1 following unruly behavior. The Avsegroup said that the Taipei-bound man was apprehended "due to disorderly and scandalous actions." The incident occurred in the NAIA departure lobby on April 21, 2026. Police added that the suspect is now in the custody of NAIA Police Station 1 and will undergo inquest proceedings for violation of Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code. Cases of unruly behavior at Philippine airports fall under the jurisdiction of Avsegroup by virtue of the rules of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
