Pasig geriatric facility to widen services

PASIG City has taken over the operations of the Magokoro elderly care facility to expand its services, the city government said Thursday. This comes after the project, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), completed its one-year pilot implementation. The 200-square-meter care facility is located inside the Pasig City Mega Dialysis Center on Eusebio Avenue in San Miguel. JICA said the initiative showed how Japanese-style, people-centered care could be adapted to the local context. “Through this JICA-supported pilot initiative, Magokoro Pasig has shown how Japanese-style, people-centered care can be thoughtfully adapted to the local context, providing dignity, comfort, and an improved quality of life for senior citizens,” JICA said. Pasig City said its plans for 2026 to 2028 include improving the exterior of the facility, adding more caregivers and conducting home-based caregiving training for the community. JICA Chief Representative Baba Takashi, Infic President Masuda Masatoshi and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto met on April 16 to confirm the project’s achievements and the city’s future plans for the program. Infic Inc. is a specialized Japanese company that combines traditional nursing care with advanced technology (CareTech) to support elderly independence.
