An investigation has been launched after a man in his 70s was killed in a house fire. Firefighters were called to Cranwell Drive in the Burnage area of Manchester at 4.40pm. Crews from three stations attended and were on scene for nearly three hours, Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service said. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the pensioner, who was in the building at the time of the blaze, was pronounced dead at the scene.
