AI-powered logistics platform launched for cross-border trade

LAHORE: A new AI-driven logistics platform, SMSA Express, JAKDelivery, has been introduced in Pakistan, aiming to streamline and reduce the cost of international shipping while enhancing efficiency for businesses and consumers. The platform was jointly unveiled during a media briefing in Lahore on Thursday by Mohammad Ansari, Director of SMSA; Waseem Ali Khan, Chairperson of WF Integral Express; and Mehreen Feroz, Director of JAKDelivery. They said the initiative introduces an innovative “deferred shipping” model that leverages artificial intelligence to tackle the longstanding challenge of high cross-border shipping costs. By consolidating shipments at local hubs and optimizing transit routes, the platform significantly lowers expenses for merchants and individual users. They explained that the digital system offers real-time tracking, automated customs documentation, and efficient last-mile delivery services across more than 230 countries. This, they noted, enables Pakistani businesses to compete more effectively in global markets. According to them, JAKDelivery simplifies complex logistics operations through AI-enabled systems that manage the entire shipping process, from initial consolidation to final delivery, in regions including the GCC, Europe, and North America. This approach reduces the operational burden on merchants, eliminating the need to navigate international trade regulations or fluctuating carrier rates. They further highlighted that the platform provides a centralized logistics infrastructure accessible to a decentralized network of sellers, offering cost-effective solutions without compromising reliability. The SMSA representatives described the launch as a step toward a more scalable and affordable future for international shipping, emphasizing that advanced data use and strategic consolidation can help overcome geographical barriers and strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global digital economy.
