TACLOBAN CITY — Eastern Visayas’ economy expanded by just one percent in 2025, a sharp slowdown from the 6.1 percent growth recorded in 2024, as mobility restrictions at the San Juanico Bridge and setbacks in public construction dampened economic activity, regional officials said on Thursday. Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed that the region’s economy reached P560.71 billion in 2025, slightly higher than P555.23 billion in 2024, but reflecting a significant deceleration in growth.
