Korea, US discuss energy supply chain cooperation at G20 level

Diplomats of Korea and the United States have discussed efforts to ensure energy supply chains within the Group of 20 (G20) framework amid global uncertainties, the foreign ministry said Friday. Kim Hee-sang, government representative, or "sherpa" for the G20, met with his U.S. counterpart, Emory Cox, in Washington earlier this week to discuss cooperation ahead of the G20 summit, set to take place in Miami on Dec. 14-15. In particular, the two sides discussed ways to work together at the G20 level to stabilize global energy supply chains, sharing the view that the supply networks have come under strain amid regional tensions, the ministry said. They also reviewed preparations for the upcoming G20 summit, including key agenda items put forward by the U.S., such as trade, deregulation and energy prosperity. Korea is due to host the G20 summit in 2028. During his trip, Kim also held separate meetings with Jarrod Agen, executive director of the White House's National Energy Dominance Council, as well as other officials from the Trump administration and think tanks, where they discussed energy
