Alleged rebel killed, 2 firearms seized in fresh Negros clashes

A suspected member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed following a series of armed encounters with government troops in Barangay Bucalan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, on Thursday. Brig. Gen. Ted Dumosmog, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, identified the fatality as Jomarie “Yulo” Pañe. Pañe was reportedly a remnant of the dismantled Central Negros 1 guerrilla front under the Komiteng Rehiyonal–Negros. Troops from the 62nd Infantry Battalion engaged about 10 rebels in three successive clashes in Sitio Guibawan.
