"Several vessels - part of Global Sumud Flotilla - set sail from the port of Syracuse on Friday for their 'Spring 2026 mission' aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza and breaking the 'imposed' blockade. Footage shows activists loading supplies onto one of the vessels, which was draped in pro-Palestine banners and flags after sailing from Marseille earlier this month. "We're reposting and getting supplies back to continue our path to join the rest of our colleagues," said one activist. While not disclosing the vessels' route, he said the ship aimed to continue towards Gaza as quickly as possible, calling it their final destination. "You know, the mission for the flotilla is to end the blockade of Gaza, you know, and open a humanitarian corridor to bring help to Gaza. The illegal blockade that is happening in Gaza," he added. After departing Syracuse, the fleet will stop in Ierapetra, Greece, for a training course before the final 200-nautical-mile journey to Gaza, in hopes of delivering essential supplies, including food, medicine, and baby formula. The mission is backed by a coalition of more than 70 vessels, 1,000 participants, and partners across over 70 countries. This marks the latest international activist-led attempt to break the blockade of Gaza following October 2025, when the Israeli navy intercepted a flotilla of approximately 50 vessels carrying over 500 activists in international waters."
