"A bus loaded with an explosive device detonated in the vicinity of the Pichincha Military Compound, in the Colombian city of Cali on Friday, prompting a rapid response from firefighters and police. Footage shows the Colombian authorities securing the area, while local firefighters completed operations to put out the blaze. The shell of the bus can be seen completely burned out after the explosion. "A suspected car bomb has exploded. Preliminary investigations are underway, but everything seems to indicate that it was a school minibus that was left parked here on the northern side of the military compound," said Jorge Humberto Zuniga, councilman of Comuna 19. He added that the area is very busy with motorcycles and street vendors, but noted that the explosion did not leave any fatalities. "There was really no loss of life," he said. Local residents expressed concern, indicating that operations are frequently carried out by the battalion as part of the fight against organised crime. "Every day you hear the humming of all those helicopters, the sirens. According to the National Army, three explosive devices were found inside the military compound and one more in the surrounding area. It also confirmed that there were no casualties among military personnel or the civilian population. Based on preliminary military intelligence reports, the incident may be linked to an armed group led by Jaime Martinez, operating as Nestor Gregorio and the alias Ivan Mordisco, who is reportedly the leader of the Estado Mayor Central of FARC dissidents. An investigation has been launched to identify those responsible for the explosion, with no arrests reported in the early hours after the alleged attack. "
