"French President Emmanuel Macron visited Greece on Saturday, where he joined Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the port of Piraeus to reinforce defence cooperation between the two countries. Footage shows Macron arriving at the port before walking alongside Mitsotakis on a red carpet as fighter jets carry out a ceremonial flypast. The two leaders were later seen listening to national anthems and boarding the frigate Kimon, where officials gathered on deck. The visit focuses on the renewal of a defence partnership first signed in 2021, which includes a mutual defence clause and major arms deals, including French-built frigates and Rafale fighter jets. Frigate HS Kimon is the first FDI-class warship delivered by France to Greece and is now in active service. Macron and Mitsotakis were briefed on the vessel's capabilities by military officials before continuing talks in Athens. Officials said the renewed cooperation would extend beyond defence to include areas such as technology, energy and migration."
