"Dozens of people rallied outside the US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee's residence in Jerusalem on Saturday, calling for the American government to cease its support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Footage shows protestors holding large banners depicting the Israeli leader and bearing messages such as 'He fooled you on Gaza & Iran' and 'Don't back a despised weak loser', among others. "You are betting on the wrong horse. You're betting on a lame duck, you're betting on a spent politician, and you're betting against the House. Netanyahu's approval ratings are plummeting," one of the protesters stated. "The overwhelming majority sees him not only as unfit for office but as a genuine national security threat and an autocrat seeking to destroy Israel's democracy," he continued. Another demonstrator also condemned the prime minister, exclaiming that Netanyahu 'does not represent' the people of Israel. "We seek peace. We yearn for hope. We want security, not endless wars, violence, death, and fear. We want a future where our children can live safely, freely, and with dignity. A future built on a strong, responsible leadership that unites rather than divides," she added. Protesters also addressed US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, pleading for help in the establishment of the new government that is focused on 'bringing peace, prosperity, and stability to the region'. "We want a fresh Israeli government, a government that will be by the people, of the people, and for the people. We seek a government that will not lie or cheat the US president. A government that you, Mr. President, can trust," a demonstrator said. On Thursday, Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon extended their ceasefire by three weeks after a meeting with top US officials, including Vance, Rubio, and US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, in Washington. Appointed as US Ambassador to Israel in April 2025, Huckabee is reported to be a staunch supporter of Netanyahu and his policies."
