MANILA, Philippines — Amid the ongoing war in the Middle East, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Saturday said that 36 overseas Filipino workers and two dependents arrived in two separate flights from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Filipinos were assisted by representatives of the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and were given financial assistance, transport services and temporary accommodation. According to the DMW, from March 5 until April 25, 7,674 OFWs have returned home since the start of the Middle East war. Among them were 7,051 Filipinos, with 5,669 OFWs included, 1,382 dependents, who elected to return via government-chartered flights. “The government continues to strengthen its repatriation and reintegration programs in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., to ensure the safety of OFWs and to support their smooth return and fresh start in the country,” the DMW said in Filipino.
