Pakistan, Turkiye FMs hold talks on ongoing diplomatic efforts

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Turkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Saturday, sharing updates on Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic efforts and stressing that sustained dialogue and engagement remain the only viable path to promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond. “DPM/FM shared developments regarding ongoing diplomatic efforts by Pakistan. He emphasized that sustained engagement through dialogue and diplomacy remains the only viable means for promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond,” the FO said in a statement. Meanwhile, Dar on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting to review the evolving regional situation, reaffirming that Pakistan was actively facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States to promote peace and stability. He stressed that Islamabad would continue its diplomatic efforts to support constructive engagement and de-escalation in the region. Amid hopes of a breakthrough in the deadlocked Iran-US negotiations, an Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, arrived in Islamabad on Friday night ahead of the much-awaited second round of peace talks. During the visit, the Iranian foreign minister will hold meetings with Pakistan’s senior leadership to discuss the latest regional developments as well as ongoing efforts for regional peace and stability. An official described the Iranian delegation’s visit as a key step toward the resumption of direct talks with the United States aimed at ending the weeks-long conflict.
