Malano elected unopposed as member Judicial Commission of Sindh

KARACHI: In the presence of Sindh Minister for Law, Home and Parliamentary Affairs, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, senior lawyer, Qurban Malano, was unanimously elected unopposed as a member of the Judicial Commission of Sindh in connection with the Sindh Bar Council elections. Other elected members of the Sindh Bar Council from across the province include Asif Ali Somro, Ameer Bux Metlo, Amal Khan Kasi, Waqar Alam Abbasi, Jahangir Rahoojo, Arun Prasad, Riaz Ahmed Bhatti, Samsam Ali Khan, Abdul Ghani Bajarani, Abdul Razzaq Mahar, Shafqat Rahim Rajput, Muhammad Waseem Shah, Azhar Hussain Abbasi, Abdul Sattar Lahrani, Muhammad Hashim Laghari, Altaf Hussain Junejo, Irfan Ali Baghio, and Parvez Ali Memon. Meanwhile, Provincial Minister for Law, Home and Parliamentary Affairs, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, also attended an urgent meeting of the Sindh Bar Council held at the Sindh High Court, Karachi. The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman Ishtiaq Memon, Chairman Executive Committee Ayaz Tunio, and other members, where detailed discussions were held on matters related to the welfare and facilitation of the legal fraternity. During the meeting, proposals were presented to increase the Benevolent Fund for advocates by 300 percent and to enhance the annual grant for lawyers. The Law Minister announced the launch of a dedicated Red Bus service for lawyers in Karachi, stating that the service will initially operate on four routes and will later be extended to Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, and Sukkur. Further progress was shared regarding the development of a hostel and hospital for lawyers, for which the PC-I has been prepared, and the feasibility report will soon be submitted to the Government of Sindh. Additional proposals discussed in the meeting included: increase in medical grants and healthcare facilities, introduction of internship programmes for young lawyers, audit of Sindh Bar Council funds, provision of discounted air travel facilities, allocation of residential plots for lawyers ,improvement of libraries and digital facilities. The Law Minister directed the formation of a committee to review all recommendations, which will submit its report within one week. He reaffirmed his commitment that, as both Law Minister and a member of the legal fraternity, he will pursue these matters with the Government of Sindh to ensure effective implementation and improved facilities for lawyers.
