Strike in the Pacific - US claims at least three killed aboard suspected narco-trafficking vessel

"The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) released a video of its forces striking a suspected narco-trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific, killing three people in a 'lethal kinetic strike' on Sunday. Footage shows the vessel exploding on impact, sending plumes of smoke into the air. The exact date and location of the video cannot be independently verified. SOUTHCOM stated the strike was carried out by Joint Task Force Southern Spear at the direction of General Francis Donovan, with intelligence showing the vessel was travelling along known drug-smuggling routes and was 'engaged in narco-trafficking operations'. "Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No US military forces were harmed," the command wrote on X (formerly Twitter). The strike marks the latest in a series of operations conducted under Operation Southern Spear since its launch in September 2025. According to media reports, the campaign has resulted in at least 186 deaths across the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific."
