MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday stood by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s announcement that former lawmaker Zaldy Co had been held in custody by Czech authorities, following the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) assertion that Co was “not technically arrested.” The clarification came days after Justice Undersecretary Polo Martinez told reporters that Co had not actually been “arrested,” contrary to an April 16 press release from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), but instead had his liberty restricted.
