PM Shehbaz approves public attendance for PSL playoffs with key condition

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has granted approval for public attendance at all three Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoff matches, marking a major win for cricket fans across the country. “I’m pleased to share that we have secured his approval for public attendance in all three PSL playoff matches as well,” Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi said on X. However, the prime minister has stressed an important condition in light of the country’s ongoing national austerity efforts. “Fans are strongly encouraged to use public transport or minimize their fuel consumption while attending the matches,” he said. This measure aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting energy conservation during challenging economic conditions. PM Shehbaz also conveyed his best wishes to all four teams competing in the PSL playoffs, expressing hope for an exciting and fair competition. The PCB had initially decided to hold the tournament behind closed doors due to the government’s austerity measures in response to the ongoing fuel crisis triggered by the Middle East conflict. However, on Friday, PM Shehbaz granted permission for spectators to attend the final, a decision that was later extended to include the playoffs as well.
