"White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt admitted there was 'discussion this morning' about Iran's reported proposed 'mutual reopening' of the Strait of Hormuz, as she gave a press briefing in DC on Monday. "I will confirm the president has met with his national security team this morning. The meeting may be ongoing, maybe not. I don't want to speak affirmatively because I was prepping to come out here. But the proposal was being discussed. I don't want to get ahead of the President or his national security team," she said. "I wouldn't say they're considering it I would just say that there was a discussion this morning that I don't want to get ahead of and you'll hear directly from the president I'm sure on this topic very soon," she said. Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has been on a foreign tour, with Muscat and Islamabad over the weekend, and talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday. Donald Trump extended the ceasefire last Wednesday, but a second round of talks between the US and Iran did not materialise."
