'There was a discussion this morning... I won't get ahead of Trump' - Leavitt on Iran's proposed 'mutual reopening of Strait'

"White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt admitted there was 'discussion this morning' about Iran's reported proposed 'mutual reopening' of the Strait of Hormuz, as she gave a press briefing in DC on Monday. "I will confirm the president has met with his national security team this morning. The meeting may be ongoing, maybe not. I don't want to speak affirmatively because I was prepping to come out here. But the proposal was being discussed. I don't want to get ahead of the President or his national security team," she said. "I wouldn't say they're considering it I would just say that there was a discussion this morning that I don't want to get ahead of and you'll hear directly from the president I'm sure on this topic very soon," she said. Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has been on a foreign tour, with Muscat and Islamabad over the weekend, and talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday. Donald Trump extended the ceasefire last Wednesday, but a second round of talks between the US and Iran did not materialise."
