LAHORE: The leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has said that President Asif Ali Zardari’s ongoing visit to China is expected to mark a significant milestone in Pakistan’s economic diplomacy. In an official statement, PPP Deputy Secretary for Information Ahsan Rizvi said on Tuesday that the visit holds not only diplomatic importance but is also likely to bring promising developments for Pakistan’s economic future. According to him, the central focus of the visit includes the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, infrastructure development projects, foreign investment, agricultural cooperation, technology transfer, and defense collaboration. He said the visit may also enhance the capacity of local industries through advancements in construction, engineering, and technology transfer. President Zardari’s meetings with Chinese leadership at the provincial level are opening new avenues for direct investment in Pakistan, he maintained. Highlighting bilateral relations, he described the Pakistan–China “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” as a symbol of long-term trust and sustained collaboration. Ahsan added that cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two countries represents a major step toward modern farming. Initiatives such as agricultural modernization, seed research, and smart farming are expected to strengthen food security and boost the rural economy.
