ACTOR and singer Sharon Cuneta called on former vice president and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo to reconsider her plan not to run for president in 2028. Cuneta is the wife of Sen. Francis Pangilinan, Robredo’s running mate in the 2022 national polls. “Dearest Ma’am Leni, please reconsider... You are the one who can unite these different parties. You have proven that you can fight for the Philippines,” she wrote on Instagram. Cuneta, known to her fans as “the Megastar,” urged Robredo not only to run for president, but also to pick a “great” vice presidential candidate. “Please choose a great VP, ideally from where you will garner more support than ever before, and Kiko and I will go all-out for you,” she said. She said Robredo’s supporters, known as the “kakampinks” because of the former vice president’s fondness for the color, are waiting for her decision. Cuneta noted that support for Robredo is strongly gathering more than ever. “We are all storming the heavens with our prayers for you to change your mind and run once more... just one more time, Ma’am, for President,” Cuneta said. Robredo earlier said that she would not run for a higher position in 2028 and instead would be seeking reelection as Naga City mayor.
