Semirara profit falls 12% in March quarter

MANILA, Philippines — Semirara Mining and Power Corp.’s (SMPC) net income fell by 12 percent in the first quarter of 2026 as it logged weaker electricity generation and coal shipments.  READ: Auction delay slashes P18B from Semirara’s market value The company on Thursday said its earnings decreased to P3.8 billion from P4.4 billion.  During the first quarter, total coal shipped decreased by 4 percent to 4.5 million metric ton (MMT) from 4.7 MMT due to lower export volumes.
