"UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the government was working to ramp up security and ensure quick justice measures after two Jewish people were stabbed in northern London. "It's our responsibility to coordinate the immediate response here to this appalling attack to ensure security is in place to take other measures," Starmer said on Wednesday. "We do have to recognise the levels of anxiety and concern there are that I know about, in terms of the Jewish community feeling very much exposed and vulnerable, feeling they've got to hide their identity sometimes," he added. Starmer went on to say that authorities are coordinating an immediate response with partners including the Home Secretary, London’s mayor and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner. "There is enhanced funding already in place. We need to increase that to give the level of protection that is needed," he added. Two men, one reportedly in his 70s and the other in his 30s, were attacked by a knife-wielding assailant in Golders Green, a predominantly Jewish area in north London, earlier on Wednesday. Police said a 45-year-old man was later detained on suspicion of attempted murder. The victims were taken to the hospital and were in stable condition at the time of publication."
