MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. convened national and regional leaders to strengthen coordination in addressing key peace and security priorities. The President led the Joint National Peace and Order Council and Regional Peace and Order Council Meeting for the first semester of 2026 in Malacañang on Thursday. During the meeting, Marcos stressed the importance of stronger cooperation between the national and local governments to curb crime and ensure faster emergency response. "When communities are safe, people can work, build businesses and come home to their families with peace of mind," the President said in Facebook post. "At the joint National Peace and Order Council Meeting, we strengthened coordination between national and local governments to keep crime down and respond faster in emergencies," he added. Marcos said discussions centered on leveraging technology and enhancing community involvement to help prevent crime. "We discussed strategies, such as expanding the use of technology and engaging communities in deterring crime. We want to ensure that people feel safe, stable and secure," he said.
