"The epic cleanup operation to remove oil-contamination across southern Russia's Tuapse continued on Wednesday, after 'black rain' hit the region following Ukrainiaon UAV attacks on the local oil refinery. Footage shows the Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM) employees and volunteers cleaning up the beach, with Krasnodar region's operational headquarters reporting that 'nearly 10,000 cubic metres' had been cleared. "As of April 29, nearly 10,000 cubic metres of oil-contaminated soil and oil-water mixture have been collected from the banks and out of the Tuapse River itself. Major clean-up efforts are concentrated along the riverbank of approximately one kilometer long. Several oil-spill 'booms' (floating barriers) have been deployed in the river [to remove the oil]," it stated. The operational headquarters noted that the number of personnel involved in the clean-up has been increased to more than 600, with volunteers, employees from the Russian EMERCOM, the 'Kuban-SPAS' rescue unit, as well as representatives of local administrations and companies. It came following a series of strikes by Ukrainian drones on the oil refinery and seaport in Tuapse since early April - leading to fires and subsequent 'black rain'. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova reported that "the Kiev regime's drones killed civilians in Tuapse and caused damage to residential buildings and public facilities. The infrastructure of the maritime terminal was damaged to such an extent that it led to an oil spill in the Black Sea, one and a half miles from the port. <...> A serious environmental threat has arisen." Ukraine admitted the strikes, while Kiev and its allies have not commented on the huge environmental impact."
