"Defence Minister Israel Katz has warned that Israel is prepared to 'complete the task' and will continue striking Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. "Hezbollah has suffered extremely heavy blows over the past two and a half years, including during Operation 'Roar of the Lion'. Now, within the broader regional circumstances, we must complete the task to ensure the removal of the threat to residents of the north and to the State of Israel," Katz said in an address on Thursday. "We will act to destroy all terrorist infrastructure in the security zone up to the Yellow Line, both above and below ground, just as we did in Gaza - in order to prevent threats to residents of the Galilee and to dismantle Hezbollah’s capabilities across Lebanon," he added. Katz further asserted that Israel retains the support of the US and President Trump, signalling a possible return to airstrikes in both Lebanon and Iran if a deal is not reached. Israel began ground and air operations in Lebanon on March 2 after Hezbollah launched strikes into Israel in retaliation for an attack in Iran that killed its supreme leader. The two sides agreed to a ceasefire on April 16, which was later extended by three weeks last Thursday. Israel's military operation in Lebanon has displaced over a million people, with 2,509 killed since the beginning of the fighting."
