'Opening to Spring' - Flower and Garden Festival fills Polanco neighborhood in Mexico City with color

"The Polanco neighborhood in Mexico City became the epicenter of the 2026 Festival of Flowers and Gardens, an annual event where artisans, landscapers, and designers adorn the streets with floral arrangements to welcome spring. Images recorded this Thursday show people touring the festival on its opening day. From Presidente Masaryk Avenue to Lincoln Park, installations were set up showcasing various figures made with flowers, from animals to television characters. "The floral arrangements bring life to a place and also beautifully decorate all the streets, and they look really cool in all colors," commented attendee Emmanuel Ramírez, who has attended other editions of the festival in previous years. Attendee Alejandra González highlighted the exhibitions that can be found in Lincoln and America parks, where there was also food tasting. "That's fabulous because people come to see what else is there. Everything is amazing," she assured. She added that these types of events make people feel more pride in their country by showcasing its floral and botanical diversity. "I feel very proud to be Mexican and above all to be in such a beautiful environment, full of flowers. It's a complete opening to spring," she expressed. This year, the festival received 173 proposals from artisans and florists from different parts of the country. People will be able to attend the event until May 3. During those days, there will be talks, workshops, discussions, and conferences mainly about gardening, botany, and landscaping."
