"Hundreds of protesters gathered near Downing Street in London on Thursday, denouncing antisemitism and calling on Prime Minister Keir Starmer's government to take action against the 'insane wave' of hate crime following a recent double stabbing of Jewish men in Golders Green. Footage shows demonstrators waving Union Jack and Israeli flags, holding signs reading: 'Jewish and proud', 'I love my Jewish friends', 'Jew-hate is now a national emergency' and 'Keir Starmer, Jew harmer'. Notable names such as former minister for Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiency Jacob Rees-Mogg and Director of Investigations and Enforcement at the Campaign Against Antisemitism, Stephen Silverman, were also seen addressing the rally. "It's been six months since two Jews were murdered on the streets of Manchester on Yom Kippur. Six months since we gathered in this very same spot, demanding that the prime minister take action to halt the insane wave of Jew hatred sweeping the country," said Silverman. The Director accused Prime Minister Starmer of negligence and refusal to address the problem of antisemitism, which he called a 'national emergency'. Protester Alison warned that hate has no boundaries, saying, "It might start with Jewish people, but it certainly won't end with Jewish people." "I just want to see more robust action in actually dealing with terrorism, you know, in whether that is, people who are openly inciting acts of violence," she persisted. Demonstrator Doug claimed that incidents increased due to several factors, including the economic crisis and the ongoing wars, which are making the middle class in the country insecure and desperate. "That's why we see this, the middle-class-dominated hate demonstration," he declared, asserting, "We have to fight the government." It comes as the UK's terrorism threat level has been raised to 'severe' after the latest attack on the Jewish community in London, in which two men aged 34 and 76 were stabbed in Golders Green on Wednesday. The threat level has been "rising for some time, driven by an increase in broader Islamist and extreme right-wing terrorist threat from individuals and small groups based in the UK," the Home Office stated. On the same day, at least 15 fire engines and 100 firefighters rushed to douse a blaze at a property near a synagogue in London, according to the city's Fire Brigade."
