"Myanmar's former leader Aung San Suu Kyi would be transferred from prison to her 'designated residence' to serve the remaining sentence, state broadcaster MRTV announced on Thursday. Footage shows a still image of Suu Kyi sitting with two men — one in a khaki shirt and another in a police uniform. "In consideration of humanitarian concerns as well as the state's benevolence and goodwill, the president [...] granted that Aung San Suu Kyi, who is currently serving her term in Nay Pyi Taw Prison, serve the remainder of her sentence at a designated residence," a reporter read from the official notice, marking the announcement to Buddha Day. It is not immediately clear where and when the leader will be moved. In April 2022, a court sentenced the former leader to five years in prison for corruption. She is serving a 33-year sentence, which was later reduced to 27. Aung San Suu Kyi, 80, has been in detention since the 2021 takeover by the military, after widespread claims of fraud during the general elections. "
