Labor day rallies proceed peacefully - PNP

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday provided an initial assessment of the nationwide observance of Labor Day that as of 9 AM, activities remain generally peaceful and orderly, with no major untoward incidents recorded across monitored areas. Initial reports show that at least nine rallies were held in different parts of the country, drawing an estimated 3,410 participants. Of these, eight are ongoing while one has already concluded. Activities largely centered on labor-related concerns, including wage adjustments, fuel prices, and worker protection, reflecting the continuing dialogue between sectors on socio-economic issues. More than 106,000 police personnel were deployed nationwide supported by force multipliers and partner agencies. Police presence has been focused on maintaining visibility, managing traffic, securing key entry points, and ensuring orderly conduct of public assemblies. Coordination with rally organizers remains active to uphold the right to peaceful assembly while keeping communities safe. PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the public and participating groups for their cooperation. “As of now, our Labor Day activities nationwide are peaceful and orderly. We are thankful to our countrymen for being ,” he said. He added, “The PNP will remain on full alert throughout the day. We will continue to watch—not just to ensure security, but to support the safe and peaceful expression of our people’s concerns.”
