FAISALABAD: Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, paid an official visit to the National Textile University (NTU) Faisalabad. During the visit, Rector/Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr Rashid Masood, along with the senior leadership and administration, warmly welcomed the HEC Chairman. The Chairman appreciated the ongoing academic, research, and development initiatives at NTU and emphasized the importance of continuing such progressive efforts in the future. He also held separate meetings with all Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments to discuss academic development and institutional progress. Later, the Chairman launched a tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling on the university campus and led a collective prayer. The HEC Chairman formally inaugurated the National Centre for Composite Materials (NCCM) established at NTU. He commended the state-of-the-art laboratory equipment acquired through joint financial support from HEC Pakistan and JICA (Japan). The Chairman highly appreciated the commendable efforts of NTU Rector Professor Dr Rashid Masood, the NCCM team, Dean School of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr Zulfiqar Ali, Chairman Department of Composite Materials Dr Usman Zubair, NCCM Coordinator Dr ZakariaZubair, and Chairman Department of Clothing Dr. Muhammad Qamar Khan in establishing this Centre of Excellence.
