"More than two million people attended a free concert by Colombian singer Shakira at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, one of the most highly anticipated musical events of the year. The images show large screens featuring the artist as Brazilian and international attendees sing, dance, and cheer to the rhythm of her songs. The venue also offers t-shirts featuring photos of 'La Loba'. The artist offered the biggest show of her career on a 1,500 square metre stage, with a 25-metre catwalk that allowed her to get closer to the audience. The concert also marked the end of her world tour, 'Women Don't Cry Anymore'. Attendees highlighted Shakira's connection with audiences from different countries. 'She has a Brazilian vibe, you know? People like it. She has it all, man. She cheers us up, you know? She has that Brazilian vibe that excites us,' said Matheus. 'I like Shakira because she has a lot of personality. She inspires other people. She is also a great representative of both Latin America and the Arab community. She is of Arab descent. So, that's it. Shakira is multicultural,' added Gaya. Shakira's concert at Copacabana Beach is part of a series of events that includes Madonna's performance in 2024 and Lady Gaga's show in 2025. The city of Rio de Janeiro is organising these events as part of its strategy to boost culture and tourism. At the event, the authorities reportedly deployed approximately 8,000 police officers, set up 18 checkpoints equipped with metal detectors and facial recognition systems, and constructed 78 observation towers. According to official estimates, the concert is expected to generate an economic impact of approximately 800 million Brazilian reais (approximately 160 million USD) for the city."
