"Hong Kong hosted its first Star Wars night run on Friday, with fans of all ages taking to The Whampoa and Hung Hom Promenade in full costume ahead of global Star Wars Day celebrations. Footage shows participants in full costume gathering at the start before taking to the track, both during the day and at night, with runners dressed as Darth Vader and his army jogging alongside younger fans. Attendees can be seen stopping to pose for photos with their favourite characters. "I'm thrilled to be participating in the Hong Kong Star Wars Run 2026. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, having loved the franchise for over thirty years," shared Wong, who took part in the run with his son. Reflecting on the experience, he added, "My father took me to see Star Wars when I was a child. It was the first movie I saw in the cinema. I have very fond memories of that experience. Now, I'm excited to be able to share that with my son, and I think it's a wonderful opportunity for us to bond." "I was also really impressed by the event itself. There aren't many opportunities like this in Hong Kong, and it was great to see so many people dressed up as their favourite Star Wars characters. [...] I hope that Hong Kong can host more events like this in the future, to bring people together and celebrate the things they love," Wong remarked. "It's rare to find a film that can be enjoyed by so many different generations," noted participant Choi, saying that Star Wars' appeal crossed generational lines. Another runner, Daniel, saw the event as a unifying force among people, highlighting, "That's what we need this year. We need a bit more united people, and not diverse people drifting apart. We need to come together and stick together." The event featured a one-kilometre cosplay category and a two-kilometre fun run, and comes ahead of the upcoming release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, set to hit screens later in May."
