Wagah goes marching! - Pakistan border forces stage parade for Bunyan Al Marsoos anniversary

"Pakistan's border forces held a military parade at the Wagah border crossing near Lahore on Saturday to mark the first anniversary of 'Bunyan Al Marsoos,' the military operation launched by Pakistan on May 10, 2025. Footage shows hundreds of people at the Pakistani side of the border chanting 'Long Live Pakistan' as Pakistani soldiers showcase their combat skills while parading. The event featured a joint flag-lowering ceremony between Pakistani and Indian border forces a daily ritual that takes place at sunset, alongside celebrations and dances observed on the Indian side. "We are here to celebrate the first anniversary of 'Bunyan Al Marsoos Operation' against the enemy. You know, the US President had said that we shot down their 11 jet fighters. If they [Indians] attempt again, believe me, they will forget to count the numbers of their falling jets this time," said one of the attendees. "With the blessing of Allah, the spirit of our army and the people is impressive; their professional skill is at the best, we are happy with this," said another. The Wagah border crossing is a major tourist attraction, drawing hundreds of visitors from both India and Pakistan each day for the sunset flag-lowering ceremony. Earlier, Pakistan announced a 10-day programme of events starting on May 1 to mark the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan Al Marsoos. The latest tensions between India and Pakistan followed a deadly armed attack in Indian-administered Kashmir in April 2025, which left 26 people dead. India blamed Pakistan for the attack and suspended a bilateral water treaty and a key visa programme. Islamabad denied any involvement. Pakistan later launched Operation Bunyan Al Marsoos on May 10, before a ceasefire agreement was reached the following day."
