"Shenzhen's Dameisha Beach Park witnessed an extraordinary spectacle during the Labour Day holiday on Saturday, as the shoreline transformed into a massive hub of activity, with thousands of locals and travellers gathered for the holiday rush, creating a buzzing atmosphere. Footage shows visitors gathering, spending quality time with friends and family at the beach, basking in the sun, and diving into the refreshing sea. "There are a lot of people here. We weren't expecting this many people, but it's good. We feel good to be here, but we probably wouldn't do it again on a public holiday," said Bontle, a South African tourist. "At a beach, it's certainly my first time seeing so many people in one spot. So it is quite overwhelming, but it just feels good to be here with friends," she added. This year's Labour Day holiday, also known as Golden Week, has sparked a record-breaking surge in travel and tourism, with the celebration extended into a five-day break from May 1-5. International Workers' Day, widely known as May Day, is observed annually on May 1 to honour workers and the labour movement. It traces its origins to 19th-century protests in the US, most notably the Haymarket Affair in Chicago, where workers rallied for an eight-hour workday."
