"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday announced a 350 billion shekel ($119bn) defence boost, as well as the acquisition of state-of-the-art military aircraft, adding to what he describes as Israel's 'overwhelming air superiority' over Iran. "We are purchasing two squadrons of state-of-the-art aircraft, F-35s and F-15s. These aircraft strengthen the overwhelming Israeli air superiority, […] our pilots can reach anywhere in the skies of Iran, and they are prepared to do so if required," he said. Netanyahu also outlined plans to manufacture munitions in Israel and 'not be dependent' on foreign countries, as well as boosting the development of home-made military aircraft. It comes as the prime minister faces growing public pressure to end regional wars, amid frustrations over government policies and calls for the establishment of a State Commission of Inquiry into the October 7, 2023, attacks."
